Longtime Sonora resident Thomas Patrick McHenry passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at age 75.
Thomas was born in Ross, California, on July 30, 1947, to Patrick and Jean McHenry. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army after being a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He later served as Scoutmaster and district executive through his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America and was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Vietnam Veterans of America. He was an elder care advocate, businessman and servant of the community.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 29 years, Laura; four children, Joelle (Joseph) Blanchard, Sean (Rebekah) McHenry, Christie (Wayne) Walls, and Marc Mathis; 14 grandchildren, Margaret “Maggie” Blanchard, Michael Blanchard, Mykela Blanchard, Patrick McHenry, Mariah Mathis, Aspen Walls, Julia McHenry, Riley Mathis, Chloe Walls, Brandon McHenry, Xander Walls, Dylan McHenry, Kaitlyn McHenry and Andrew McHenry; and his siblings Michael and Kathryn McHenry.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Patrick, in 1979, his mother, Jean, in 1991, and by his daughter, Christie Walls, in 2015.
A rosary will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec.10, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sonora
