Longtime Sonora resident and retired salesman Steven Edward Neves, 69, passed away at his home on Aug. 4, 2022. He was born Feb. 10, 1953, in Fort Benning, Georgia.
He had several interests and hobbies at a young age. He loved the outdoors and traveling. He fished and hunted with his father and three younger brothers in Lake Tahoe, where he spent much of his childhood. He remained an avid fisherman and camped throughout California. Steve also enjoyed going to concerts mostly. You could often find him at Ironstone, dancing and socializing with anybody.
He was very outgoing. In 1990, he moved from Alameda to Sonora with his family. He had many friends because it did not matter where he was, he loved meeting people and had a wonderful ability to relate to others. He had integrity and was always somebody you could count on and turn to.
He leaves behind girlfriend Joyce; son, Eric Neves, and daughter, Jaclyn Neves, of Sonora; five grandchildren, Angie, Jacob and Emma Neves, of Modesto, and Giovanni and Aliyah Gonzalez of Sonora; sibling Paul Neves, of Arkansas; and his mother, Donna Mooney, of Hayward. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Neves, brother Bruce Neves, and brother Norman Neves.
There will be a celebration of life announced over social media at a later date.
